PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a system switching overhead occurs when a failure takes place because switching between a main system and a subordinate system does not occur until an abnormality actually occurs in a main system computer. SOLUTION: Computers 1A and 1B connected to each other through a network 8 are provided, and each of the computers has an application program, a resource monitoring means for monitoring the consumption of resources in the computer, a restarting means for restarting the computer, a resource limit definition area storing a restart condition and an operation system. When the computer 1A operates as a main system, the computer 1A transfers processing to the computer 1B of the subordinate system when resource consumption satisfies the restart condition prestored by the resource limit definition area and restarts the computer 1A with the restarting means. Accordingly, a possibility that the main system computer and the subordinate system computer simultaneously fail is reduced.
