<p>Composite material production where woodchips (optionally after free steam pretreatment) are subjected to thermohydrolysis in an MDF type digester at elevated temperature(s), the thus treated woodchips are, in a refiner, reduced mechanically to smaller accumulations of chemically modified fibres, the mechanically reduced materials are air dried, at temperature(s) insufficient to cure the fractioned and/or hydrolysed hemicellulose and the fractioned and/or hydrolysed lignin, suitable thermoset curable binder material(s) are associated with the chemically modified fibres (before, during and/or after the drying), mattress accumulations of the chemically modified fibres and the associated binder material(s) are then prepared, the mattress accumulations are hot pressed to their pressed form(s) at elevated temperatures sufficient to at least initiate the thermoset curing of the binder material(s) and to at least initiate curing of the fractioned and/or hydrolysed hemicellulose and lignin, and the pressed form(s) are maintained still above ambient temperature for a period sufficient to allow curing or further curing of fractioned and/or hydrolysed hemicellulose and lignin of the chemically modified fibres.</p> |
