PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of an abrasion on the end surface of a coil caused by the displacement of the cores of a coil lifter and a metal strip coil put at the down end. SOLUTION: The metal strip coil lifter has an open/close arm 4 with horizontal suspending parts 3 facing each other at the bottom of vertical parts 2 hanging from left and right sides of the main body 1 of the lifter. In the metal strip coil lifter, a brush support body 10 is hung oscillatably facing the inner side 2a of each vertical part 2 of the open/close arm. A brush 11 is attached on the side surface 10b of the brush support body 10 so that the top of the strands projects forward from the inner side surface 10a of the brush support body 10. Further, a spring 12 is connected between the brush support body 10 and the vertical part 2 of the open/close arm, and a limit switch 13 is mounted for detecting the contact of the brush support body 10 and the vertical part 2 of the open/close arm.
