386,290. Discharge tubes. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. April 7, 1931, No. 10247. Convention date, April 3, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 39 (i).] Condensation of vapour on a wall 1, formed, e.g. of quartz, through which ultraviolet rays are transmitted, is prevented by a chimney 11 arranged above the discharge path. The discharge passes between a Wehnelt cathode 4 and anodes 5, 6 which are separated by a partition and are mounted in an insulating cap 10. One or both of the :anodes consistsof semi-cylindrical iron bodies containing rods of magnesium which supply the vapour filling. The chimney 11, which may have a conical shape, -is formed of ordinary glass and is mounted on the pinch through a gauze ring 12. Magnesium-vapour rises through the chimney and is deposited thereon and on the ring 12. The wall-1 is sealed to the container 3, which consists of ordinary glass, through rings 2 having suitable co-efficients, of expansion. The filling-may contain argon at 150 mm., and the vapour may consist of sodium. |
