PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter which has a smoothing capacitor in an intermediate dc circuit, which removes difference of direct current between converters connected through the dc circuit, suppresses fluctuation of direct current, and reduces capacity of the smoothing capacitor. SOLUTION: This power converter has two converters. A first converter converts an alternating current to the direct current and a second converts a direct current to an alternating current; both the converters are connected via an intermediate dc circuit which has a smoothing capacitor, and the second converter controls an ac output current with a current controller. In the control current of the first converter according to the current of the second converter, this power converter estimates the dc input current of the second converter, by computing including the change rate and based on the current command value of the second converter, and controls the current of the first converter, based on the estimated value.
