PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for combustion control with which desired combustion timing can be obtained. SOLUTION: In the control method for combustion by automatic ignition of a homogeneous fuel mixture in an internal combustion engine of which the homogeneous fuel mixture is slowly oxidized before the homogeneous fuel mixture is automatically ignited and combusted in a combustion chamber, the specified amount of fuel is fed in the combustion chamber during slow oxidization of the fuel mixture to prolong a slow oxidization process.
