PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery that is capable of making large current discharging by welding firmly the belt-shape metal thin plate to the nickel metal porous body having a three dimensional mesh structure, and by reducing the electric resistance at the welded section. SOLUTION: After a active material slurry is filled in the foamed nickel body 11a and dried to form an active material-filled electrode plate 10a, NiCo alloy particles 22 are injected from a nozzle 21 of an air blast device 20 arranged at the top and bottom sides of the active material-filled electrode part 10a. Thereby, the active material particles filled in the foamed nickel body 11a are blown out by the NiCo alloy particles 22 and removed from the current collector tab installation part 12, and at the same time, NiCo alloy particles 22 remain at the current collector tab installation part 12, and the NiCo alloy particles 22 are filled in the current collector tab installation part 12. When the belt-shape metal thin plate 13 is welded to the current collector tab installation part 12, the belt-shape metal thin plate 13 is firmly fixed to the current collector tab installation part 12.
