PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat plate type display device capable of suppressing a strain resulting from a heat treatment when an electrode is formed, and a method of manufacturing the display device. SOLUTION: Since a large number of terminals 58 are installed on the outer peripheral part of a rear face plate inner surface 14 and a sheet member 20 is fixed to the rear face plate 18 to provide a maintenance electrode 46 and a write electrode 48, and a connection to an external circuit through the terminals 58 is allowed. Accordingly, a heat treatment for providing the maintenance electrode 46 and the write electrode 48 is not applied to a front plate and the rear plate 18. In addition, wiring parts 50 and 52 are connected to the terminal 58 since a lead-through wiring part 60 installed so as to be extruded from a core dielectric layer 32 or the end part of the wiring part 52 is fixed to the terminal 58. Thus the wiring parts 50 and 52 on the sheet member 20 manufactured separately from each other can be easily connected to the terminal 58. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
