PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary head capable of reducing the damage of a magnetic head, and a magnetic recording/reproducing device equipped with the same. SOLUTION: The rotary head 10 is provided with a cylindrical rotary cylinder 12, and magnetic heads 20a to 20d for carrying out at least one of information recording and information reading on a magnetic tape 11 carried around the rotary cylinder 12. The magnetic heads 20a to 20d are supported so as to move toward the inside of the rotary cylinder 12. By moving the magnetic heads 20a to 20d, damage caused by excessive contact with the magnetic tape 11 is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
