PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescence element and an electroluminescence display in which cracking or separation of the electrode due to the outside force of deformation hardly happens or which compensates conductivity against the cracking of the electrode due to the outside force of deformation. SOLUTION: In the electroluminescence element, the positive electrode 2 and/or the negative electrode 4 contains a polymer that has at least one of 2,5-thiophendiyl group and a bivalent group of heterocyclic compound in which a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon is ortho-condensed, or contains further a buffer layer 5 that contains a polymer that has at least one of 2,5-thiophendiyl group and a bivalent group of heterocyclic compound in which a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon is ortho-condensed, and the buffer layer 5 is provided adjacent to the positive electrode 2 and/or adjacent to the negative electrode 4.
