PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide rail attaching mechanism which can make constituent components common, realize cost reduction and stabilize the attached state when I/O terminal units or the like are different in size. SOLUTION: The rail attaching mechanism is equipped with base substance 11 having a trench 12 in which a rail 30 is inserted and a first engaging part 13a engaging with an upper edge side of the rail 30, and a movable engaging means 21 which is arranged slidably in the base substance and has a second engaging part 23 which engages detachably with a lower edge side of the rail 30. The movable engaging means 21 is stretched to the upper part of the base substance 11 passing a part between the base substance 11 and the rail 30, thereby enabling the operation of the moveable engaging means 21 from above the base substance 11.
