PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein a conventional operation for obtaining egg grains from an ovary of a salmon or a trout, which has been carried out by placing the opened ovary on a net with tensioned strings and manually breaking the egg grains, requires much time and effort. SOLUTION: The method for breaking the salmon roe comprises moving a flat net carrying the ovary of the salmon or the trout, pushing out the egg grains from the net by a drum laid along the line of the reticulations of the flat net, and dropping the egg grains by a piano wire or a cutting blade to provide the egg grains of the salmon or the trout. The apparatus for breaking the salmon roe is constituted of the net part 2, a frame part 3, a moving chain part 4, an upper salmon roe tray 5, a first roller 6, a second roller 7, and a lower salmon roe grain tray 8 for achieving the method.
