PURPOSE: A method for stabilizing idling and decreasing RPM(Revolution Per Minute) of a vehicle is provided to keep stability of idling by compensating continuously in overshooting RPM, and to eliminate uneasiness of a driver by reducing noise from the engine. CONSTITUTION: In a method for keeping idling stably and decreasing RPM of a vehicle, idling of an engine of the vehicle is detected(110), and the rate of RPM is calculated by dividing the desired idle RPM by the present RPM in idling the engine(120). With the calculated RPM rate, the idle compensation factor is gained from the compensate table of idle RPM decrease(130). The compensation amount is decided by multiplying the idle compensation factor by the idle speed control basic air amount, and the final idle speed control opening degree is calculated with adding the opening degree by the idle speed control PID(140).
