PURPOSE: An idle purge control device and a method thereof are provided to maximize purging in idling an engine, and to reach the desired idle rpm by decreasing torque of the engine and increasing the idle air amount with retarding the ignition time gradually. CONSTITUTION: An idle purge control device comprises an oxygen sensor(10) detecting density of oxygen among exhaust gas and providing information on feedback level of the fuel amount; a coolant temperature sensor(20) detecting information on temperature of coolant; a crank position sensor(30) detecting rpm of an engine; an intake amount sensor(40) detecting the intake air amount to a combustion chamber; an ISA(Idle Speed Actuator) opening degree detecting unit(50) detecting the ISA opening degree; an engine control unit(60) controlling the engine entirely by calculating information detected from the sensors through algorithm, and regulating purge of evaporation gas collected in a canister by controlling retardation of ignition time in idling at a stop; and a purge valve(70) flowing evaporation gas collected in the canister to the combustion chamber by adjusting the opening degree according to the control signal from the engine control unit.
