PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of data to be stored for the display of a framed image. SOLUTION: A framed image display device comprises a table storage part 9a for storing a pattern information table storing pattern specifying information for reading from a pattern storage part 9b painting patterns used for a plurality of blocks into which the framed image displayed in the form of a frame is divided, and direction information indicating the direction in which each painting pattern is displayed within the corresponding block of the framed image; and an outer frame processing part 3 for displaying the painting pattern within each block according to the pattern information table.
