FIELD: medicine, therapy. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to applying (R)-3-hydroxybutyrate cyclic ester of the formula (1) given in the description of invention. This compound is used for treatment of morbid states mediated by free radicals, toxic agents, such as peptides and proteins and genetic defects that are harmful for metabolism in cell, resistance to insulin or other defects in metabolism of glucose or states causing defect, ischemia, head traumas and/or for enhancing effectiveness in cell activity.
