Homo- or co-polymers of the polycondensate or post-modified type (I) which are soluble or swellable in polar solvent(s), characterized by being in the form of beads. Independent claims are also included for a method (M1) for the production of solid particles of (I) by conventional (co)polymerisation (possibly followed by post-modification), dispersion of the polymer solution as droplets in a hydrophobic phase in presence of stabilizers, elimination of the polar solvent to enable the separation of a solid phase and a hydrophobic phase, and drying to give the final product in the form of beads homo- or co-polymers (I) obtained by M1 compositions containing (I) for use in all types of industrial applications polymers (I) made by M1 which dissolve or swell in polar solvents, especially polyvinylamines, Hoffmann degradation products, Mannich reaction products, hydroxamated polymers, epichlorhydrin resins or dicyandiamide resins, obtained in the form of solid particles or beads without granulation or milling operations.
