摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase propagation distance of plasmon polariton while narrowing beam diameter. SOLUTION: An optical waveguide in which a thin film waveguide pattern 22 made of a negative dielectric constant material is formed on a substrate 10 to propagate the plasmon polariton. The thin film waveguide pattern consists of a wide width strip structure section 24 and a narrow width projecting section 26 which is integrally formed on the wide width stripe structure section 24.
