1. A fluid treatment system for separating a mixture of a first fluid and a second fluid, comprising:
a separator comprising a separating chamber, an inlet for receiving the mixture, a first outlet for discharge of the first fluid from the separating chamber and a second outlet for discharge of the second fluid from the separating chamber; a reject chamber positioned within the separator and adjacent to the first outlet; and a backflush conduit connected directly to the reject chamber for supplying fluid for cleaning the reject chamber during a backflush operation, wherein backflush conduit is positioned at the bottom of the reject chamber.
