PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controlling device of a welding robot with which necessary and adequate preflow time is secured in the controlling device of the welding robot which is controlled by a work program including a plurality of teaching steps. SOLUTION: This controlling device 20 of the welding robot 10 carries out a plurality of teaching steps for moving a welding torch 16 from the operation starting position to the welding starting position and welding is performed by generating an arc after moving the torch to the welding stating position. The jetting timing of shielding gas before the welding torch 16 is moved to the welding starting position is computed on the basis of the time which is required for controlling the operation of the welding torch 16 in accordance with each teaching step of the plurality of the teaching steps and a preset preflow controlling time and the shielding gas is jetted at this jetting timing.
