[Problem] To provide a method for using D-allose as a therapeutic agent or prophylactic agent for various kinds of diseases depending on cancer cells or as a starting material of these medicines. [Solution] A composition for inhibiting glucose transporter-1 expression by cancer cells, said composition comprising D-allose; and a method for inhibiting glucose transporter-1 expression by cancer cells in a subject, said method comprising administering the aforesaid composition to the subject who needs the same. The aforesaid composition is a medicine, food with health claims or dietary supplement to be administered in an effective dose to a human or nonhuman animal patient who needs treatment or prevention of a cancer cell disease caused by glucose transporter-1 expression.
