Systems and methods for precisely mounting components (100, 105) by means of a pin (125) ecured within cooperating pin receiving holes (110, 115) located in each component. An adhesive (120) is used to fix the pin to at least one component. Prior to curing of the adhesive, the use of the pin and holes will generally permit an adjustment of the position/orientation of at least one component, as well as the alignment of one component to another, while the pin resides in the pin receiving holes. Multiple pins and cooperating pin-receiving holes may be used in some embodiments. In any case, a highly precise alignment of components that is stable over a range of temperatures and through temperature changes may be achieved, while negating any effects of adhesive shrinkage, and without imparting any axial pre-load or other distortions to the components. |
