PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging material for a battery excellent in ink printing characteristics at an outer surface.SOLUTION: The packaging material for a battery is composed of a laminate including at least a base material layer 1, a metal layer 3, and a thermal fusible resin layer 4 in this order. At least part of an outer surface of the base material layer 1 includes a print reception layer 6, formed of a thermoplastic resin, a thermosetting resin, or an ionizing radiation curable resin, of a thickness in a range of 0.001 to 50 μm, on which ink is printed.
