1364180 Determination of infectious mononucleosis antibodies ORION PHARMACEUTICAL CO 14 April 1972 [14 April 1971] 17305/72 Heading G1B [Also in Division A5] An absorbent for use in the determination of infectious mononucleosis antibodies in blood serum comprises a suspension in physiological saline of stromata from mammalian red blood cells, the absorbent being prepared by treating the cells, for example sheep or horse cells with a proteolytic enzyme or neuraminidase, hemolyzing the cells, separating the stromata from the hemolyzate and suspending the stromata in physiological saline. The determination of infectious mononucleosis antibodies is carried out by mixing the absorbent with the serum to be tested and adding mammalian blood, for example sheep blood in an anticoagulant medium, agglutination indicates the presence of antibodies.
