<p>1338833 Agglomerating latices DOVERSTRAND Ltd 1 March 1972 [11 March 1971] 6617/71 Heading C3P Latices of butadiene polymers containing hydrophilic groups are agglomerated by shearing under pressure at a pH below 7 in the presence of an N-alkyl sulphosuccinamate of the formula in which R is C 12-20 alkyl and each Y is alkali metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium. Shearing is suitably effected by passage through the nozzle of a homogenizer. In examples, latices of the following copolymers are agglomerated in the presence of disodium N-octadecyl sulphosuccinamate: butadiene/styrene/ acrylonitrile / hydroxyethyl acrylate, butadiene / styrene / acrylonitrile / acrylic acid, butadiene / styrene / acrylic acid.</p> |
