1444971 Silylated prostaglandin intermediates AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 23 July 1973 [24 July 1972] 35063/73 Heading C3S [Also in Divisions C2 and C5] The invention comprises cyclopentane derivatives of the Formulae G and H wherein Y is > C = O, p is 1 to 5; R 13 is H or C 1-3 alkyl; R 14 is H, OH, 2-tetrahydropyranyloxy or tri-(C 1-4 alkyl)silyloxy; R 15 is or -CH 2 -R 20 wherein P is OH or triphenylmethoxy, R 19 is C 3-10 straight chain alkyl or alkenyl, or a C 4-13 branched chain alkyl or alkenyl formed from a C 3-7 straight alkyl or alkenyl substituted by 1 or 2 C 1-3 alkyl groups, and R 20 is C 3-10 straight chain alkyl or alkenyl optionally substituted by OH or triphenylmethoxy or a branched chain C 4-13 alkyl or alkenyl from a C 3-7 straight chain alkyl or alkenyl substituted by 1 or 2 C 1-3 alkyl groups and optionally substituted by OH or triphenylmethoxy, or a straight chain C 2-7 -#-haloalkyl; R 18 is OH, C 1-12 alkoxy 2-tetrahydropyranyloxy or tri-(C 1-4 alkyl)silyloxy, provided at least one of R 14 and R 15 represent a radical (as defined above) containing oxygen. The compounds are prepared by reacting compounds of the Formula J R 14 <SP>1</SP> is H, 2-tetrahydropyranyloxy or tri-(C 1-4 alkyl)silyloxy and R 18 <SP>1</SP> is C 1-12 alkoxy, 2-tetrahydropyranyloxy or tri-(C 1-4 alkyl)silyloxy; with compounds of the formula wherein R is C 1-8 alkyl and R 18 is the same or R 15 except it does not include a hydroxy substituted group. Compounds of the Formula C above in which R 14 <SP>1</SP> and R 18 <SP>1</SP> are trimethylsilyloxy or dimethylisopropylsilyloxy are prepared by reacting the corresponding compounds in which R 14 <SP>1</SP> and R 18 <SP>1</SP> is hydroxy with trimethylsilyl chloride or dimethylisopropylsilyl chloride. |
