1350115 Blast furnace tuyeres INSTITUT DE RECHERCHES DE LA SIDERURGIE FRANCAISE 7 Oct 1971 [13 Oct 1970] 46654/71 Headings F4T and F4B A blast furnace tuyere for injecting auxiliary liquid fuel into a blast furnace comprises a metal body 1, the inner profile of which is in the form of a Venturi with a convergent inlet portion 2, a sonic throat 3 and a divergent outlet portion 4 the arrangement being such that air is passed through the tuyere at such a rate that it is raised to supersonic velocity through the throat to create a shock wave 10, fuel being fed in from parts 9 which fuel is atomized by the shock wave 10. The shock wave also serves to stabilize the flame, and the blast furnace end of the tuyere is cooled by a water jacket 5. |
