<p>Electrically powered heater, intended particular for use in marine tankers carrying various types of mineral oil which may, at low temperatures, become so viscous as to create pumping problems is basically cylindrical in form. The helically wound AC powered heating coil (14) around the metal cylinder (12) is encased in insulation (16) which also surrounds the cylinder. Liquid rises through the cylinder, aided by a central propellor (44) which may also serve to pump out the vessel. The entire unit is intended to be suspended in storage holds and removed or resituated as required, electrical power wiring (38) being separate from the load bearing cables (26).</p> |
