<p>Inside the casing is a spindle on which the belt is wound. One end of this spindle has a fixed disc (8) and a free running disc on it. This second disc has two spring loaded cam shaped rollers (20) at its periphery, diametrically opposite each other, and its circumference has pawl teeth around it. Beneath these teeth is a weight on a rod suspended from a bracket on the casing. A lever in this bracket is close to the pawl teeth. A sudden change of speed causes the weight to engage the lever, the rollers moving outwards and holding the spindle by engaging a locking ring.</p> |
