1499627 Self-sealing coke oven door KRUPPKOPPERS GmbH 10 Aug 1976 [14 Aug 1975] 33168/76 Heading C5E A self-sealing coke-oven door comprises a door body I having upper and lower latches 11 and recesses 12 in the region of the latches to provide the door body with reduced bending stiffness in such regions, the door body further carrying a plurality of stops 15 distributed around its periphery and positioned to engage an associated oven door frame in the oven-closing position of the door and further having means 14 for applying a closing force to the central region of the door, and a diaphragm-type sealing strip 4 with resilient loading means 8 acting thereon at intervals along its length, the sealing strip having a sealing edge 6 adapted in the oven-closing position of the door to engage a sealing surface of the door frame and that projects beyond the stops when clear of the door frame. The stops may be adjustable on the door body. The means 14 preferably comprise gravityoperated supplementary latches utilizing the dead weight of the door to produce closing-direction thrust thereon. |
