<p>Thermo-sensitised polymer dispersions are applied to substrates and/or intermediate carriers, heated to above the coagulation temp. of the dispersion, by direct or reverse coating processes. Coating of leather or textiles to make leather substitutes, wallpapers, reinforced hollow articles etc. Thick coatings with improved appearance can be obtained in a single pass. Adhesion is good, without use of bonding agents. The dispersions are pref. aq. latices of rubber, thermoplastics or esp. polyurethanes, contg. 5-70 (20-60) esp. 30-50% solids. The heat sensitising agent is pref. an organopolysiloxane. Air may be incorporated in presence of a foam stabiliser e.g. polyvinyl pyrrolidone, to give foam coatings. Application is by spraying, spreading or casting, pref. by use of a casting machine.</p> |
