The coffin for burial or cremation has base and cover portions (1, 2) formed by folding and secured together at flanges (7) by a frame, preferably a double frame (8, 9). The portions (1, 2) are made of heavy-weight multi-layer corrugated board and their flanges (7) are clamped between the surrounding frames (8, 9) e.g. by corner screws (10). The portions (1, 2) are of identical shape, with a base rectangle and inclined walls, and inwardly-folded corners (11) that serve as stiffening. The frames (8, 9) may be so shaped as to enclose and cover the end edges of the flanges (7). |
