PURPOSE:To increase the efficiency and resolution and to obtain the high density recording, by fitting the chip to the slider tilt and wrapping a part of the slider, base material of chip fitting, magnetic thin film surface and cover, in the thin film magnetic head for magnetic discs. CONSTITUTION:The conductive layer surrounded with the insulating layer is formed on the lower magnetic layer 12 provided in the substrate 11, and the upper magnetic layer 14 is formed on the insulating layer so that its one end is connected to the magnetic layer 12 and another end forms the gap clipping the insulating layer. In fitting the chip mounting the cover 15 on the layer 14 to the slider 16, the chip is bonded to the slider 16 tilted so that the layer 12 is lowered, and the gap is formed by wrapping the floating surface 16b of the slider 16, substrate 11, layers 12 and 14, and cover 15, and the taper 16a is formed to make the head. Thus, the floating area of the chip is reduced without reducing the thickness of the substrate 11 and the efficiency and resolution are increased to enable high density recording. |
