PURPOSE:To prevent the roll shaft from bending due to temperature rise, by installing the concave grooves in the outer wall and inner wall of the sleeve so as to make the shape of these inner and outer concave grooves to be the same and to make the sum of depths of inner and outer concave grooves to be larger than the wall thickness of the sleeve. CONSTITUTION:As for the shape of concave grooves to be installed in the sleeve 1, there are three types as follows; the ring type outer concave groove 2, the corrugated ring type outer concave groove 3, and the helical outer concave groove 4; in each case of these types, the sleeve 1 is provided with the inner concave groove 2', 3', 4', of the same shape as the outer concave groove 2, 3, 4. The outer and inner concave grooves are closely located, and the depth of the outer concave groove is carved generally so as to be considerably deeper than a half of the wall thickness of sleeve 1. Besides, the bottom plane of the outer concave groove is preferable to be curved, because of the effect to prevent the growth of crack in the sleeve 1. In the meantime, the inner and outer concave grooves of the sleeve 1 are for the purpose of obtaining flexibility of the sleeve in the axial direction of the roll; in the outer surface of the sleeve, the opening is preferable to be sealed tight because of preventing the formation of unevenness in the surface of the hot metallic billet, and also, because of preventing the excessive temperature rise at the groove bottom due to the radiant heat. |
