PURPOSE:To avoid spontaneous outflow of ink in an ink jet recorder of the type wherein an air flow is applied to ink droplets by a method wherein an air tank is provided in an air passage, and the falling characteristic of head-side pressure upon stoppage of driving of an air source is improved. CONSTITUTION:An air discharge port 8 is provided on the outside of an ink jet port 6, and ink droplets jetted by vibration are flown together with an air flow. An air flow from an air source 14 is fed into an air chamber 7 and into an ink reservoir 20 to apply a pressure to ink. The pressure in the chamber 7 is regulated by a pressure regulator valve 17, and the ink pressure by a pressure regulator valve 18 and an air vent regulator valve 19. In this device, upon stoppage of driving of the air source 14, the fall time of head-side pressure relative to ink reservoir pressure is so short that ink flows out spontaneously. To avoid this, an air tank 29 is provided in an air passage 10 to elongate the fall time of the head-side pressure. |
