Intended is the construction of a mechanism similar to the efficient purification system of rivers. Provided is a purification device which generates, by a pump means, a water cycle corresponding to the cycling of water in nature produced by water evaporation and rainfall, and which produces water currents in a biological filtering layer comprising useful purifying bacterial groups, making this purification device extremely efficient compared with conventional systems. Also provided is an aquarium to which the purification device is integrated. The purification device according to the present invention comprises: a biological filtering layer that purifies water and has low water permeability; and a pump means that generates water currents in the biological filtering layer, the biological filtering layer being useful purifying bacterial groups where bacteria for purification grow, and the useful purifying bacterial groups being fixed in a bulk state. |
