PURPOSE:To suppress the production of a gap at a contact surface between an oxygen reference pole and a fixed electrolyte, by a method wherein and the outside of a maximum part of an inner electrode range, and the gap is filled with an oxygen reference pole material. CONSTITUTION:An inner electrode 2, in which an Fe or stainless sleeve 10 is secured to the outside of a sheath thermocouple 9, is located at the inside of a solid electrolyte 1 made of, for example, ZrO2-CaO, so that a distance between the electrode 2 and the electrolyte 1 is kept within a range of 2.0<=t<=0.5(mm.). The gap is filled with an oxygen reference pole 3 made of metal/metal oxide, such as Fe/FeO to seal it with an adhesive cement. An oxygen detector, provided with an outer electrode 5 secured to the outside of the electrolyte 1 with an adhesive cement 11, is obtained. This prevents the production of a gap between the reference pole 3 and the electrolyte 1, and the oxidization of the surface of the reference pole 3, which results in preventing the deterioration of the detector's performance. |
