PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease of initial discharge voltage after storage and the increase of internal resistance by adding a special quantity of sulfur to a positive electrode or an elecrolyte. CONSTITUTION:When an organic electrolytic battery is formed using a negative electrode which uses light metals such as lithium, sodium, etc. as an active material, a positive electrode which uses cupric oxide as it, and an organic electrolyte, the sulfur of 0.01-0.5wt% for the weight of the positive electrode active material is added to the positive electrode and a small amount of sulfur also to the electrolyte. Thus, the cupric oxide electrode to which sulfur is added forms mixed potential, indicates 2.5-2.6V open circuit voltage which approximates to its theoretical potential, and the decomposition of the electrolyte which takes place on the positive electrode does not occur. As a result, the decrease of initial discharge voltage after the battery is stored under high temperature and discharged. |
