<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a negative plate for an alkaline storage battery which can be much more easily charged by using a negative active material which is prepared by oxidizing and granulating molten cadmium metal simultaneously, and thereby stabilizing the granular state of the active material. CONSTITUTION:Cadmium metal, after being molten in a blast furnace 1, is sent into a reaction container 3, and is oxidized and granulated simultaneously by sending air from an air blast hole 4 into the container 3 while a rotary vane 5 is rotated. Next, thus prepared cadmium oxide compound is sent to a classifying device 7, and is classified into a given grain size. Thus obtained cadmium compound powder is used as a negative active material in making a pasted negative plate for an alkaline storage battery. By the means mentioned above, the electric conductivity between the active material and the grid can be enhanced, and the battery can be much more easily charged. In addition, the formation process can be omitted, and the active material can be manufactured with a simple device.</p> |
