An appliance on a vehicle for the transport of compressed material, preferably tree felling remnants, such as tree branches and tops, involving a container (3) on a vehicle chassis with a hatch-opening via which the material is downwardly stowable in the container; an end-wall furnished, with a door (6) and a door opening, via which the material can be discharged at the end of transportation, and a movable device (10) to and from the above end-wall for the compression of the material fed down through the hatch opening into the container against said door when this is closed, and for discharge of the material through the door opening when the door is open. The compression device (10), which incorporates a parallel plate (10e) with the above end-wall can also be moved to a position outside of the container's (3) outer limit, and to a position where it forms a second end-wall for the same purpose. The hatch opening is covered during transportation by a two-part lid (22a, 22b), which can be moved to a free position and whose one part (22b), in the latter position, forms a vertical delimiting wall for the hatch opening.<IMAGE> |
