PURPOSE:To secure a storage battery capable of stable operation for a long time by always continuous charging the battery with a constant weak current on the basis of the self-discharge current value of the storage battery and always maintaining at least the present stored electric quantity. CONSTITUTION:In order to perform regenerative charging for a storage battery 1, a switch 2 is closed, and it is confirmed that an ammeter 3 indicates a proper regenerative charging current value. The ammeter 3 is switched to a weak current ammeter, the switch 2 is opened, and a variable resistor 4 is adjusted so that the ammeter 3 indicates the self-discharge current value which is the result of calculation through a linear equation, and thus maintenance charging can be continued. Therefore, regenerative charge can be performed by closing the switch 2 and maintenance charge can be performed by opening the switch 2 as occasion demands, then the necessity for periodical charge is obviated, and the storage battery capable of stable operation for a long time can be secured. Since this process is that of the rectifier output current direct control system with a variable resistor, delicate control for current is facilitated, and a small- sized charge can be obtained together with its accessory rectifier at a low cost. |
