PURPOSE:To hold a rocker arm pin firmly by a method wherein a retaining member is press fitted into the groove of a rocker arm mounting holes to contract and deform the notched groove thereof while protruding shaft sections at both ends of the rocker arm pin are secured by the holes. CONSTITUTION:When the retaining member 15 of the rocker arm assembly 10 is press fitted into the grooves 5 provided at both side faces of the rocker arm mounting hole 3, the retaining member 15 is contracted and deformed by the engaging surfaces 5b, 5c of the groove 5 provided with a gradient and the diameters of the holes 14a of the notched groove 14 are reduced. Accordingly, the protruded shaft sections 12a of the rocker arm pin 12 being penetrated through the hole of the rocker arm are pressed thereto and secured thereby. Further, the retaining member 15 is knocked into the groove 5 as if it is a wedge, therefore, the protruding shaft sections 12a of the rocker arm pin 12 are secured firmly to the groove 5 through the retaining member 15. |
