Floor-covering element set which has first floor-covering elements, arranged next to one another unconnectedly in a composite arrangement, and second floor-covering elements of format differing from the format of the first floor-covering elements and which can be laid as a laying unit by means of a laying appliance, the first and second floor-covering elements preferably being composite blocks of concrete. The first floor-covering elements of the floor-covering element set having, in total, an essentially rectangular shape are arranged in the manner of a composite herringbone arrangement. At locations where there would be gaps between the first floor-covering elements as a result of the arrangement in the manner of a composite herringbone arrangement, there are second floor-covering elements which are respectively connected to at least one adjacent first floor-covering element and/or to at least one adjacent second floor-covering element. <IMAGE>
