NEW MATERIAL:A 3-imino-1,2-benzoisothiazoline-1,1-dioxide derivative of formula I (R is ethyl ot isopropyl). EXAMPLE:2-(2',6'-Diethylphenyl)-3-imino-1,2-benzoisothiazoline-1,1-dio xide. USE:A plant blight control agent having a control activity against a wide range of blights of agricultural and horticultural crops, particularly improved effects on sheath blight of a rice plant and damping-off of a tomato and cucumber, without toxicity to men and cattle and fishes, and phylotoxicity to crops. PROCESS:A reactive derivative of 2-cyanobenzenesulfonic acid at the hydroxyl group, e.g. a chloride of formula II, is reacted with a 2,6-dialkylaniline of formula III, preferably in the presence of an acid binding agent, e.g. an organic or inorganic base, to give the compound of formula I. |
