PURPOSE:To improve the erasure efficiency by making the film thickness of a magnetic material thin film of a core element chip at the incoming side of a magnetic recording medium thicker than the film thickness of the magnetic material thin film of the core element chip at the running side. CONSTITUTION:A couple of core element chips 10, 11 are bonded by melting a nonmagnetic material such as glass via a gap spacer 15 and magnetic material thin films 13, 14 such as ''Sendust'' having a high permeability are formed to a gap face of the core element chips 10, 11. The film thickness (e) of the thin film 13 at the recording medium incoming side is formed thicker than the film thickness (f) of the thin film 14 in the running direction. Thus, the strength distribution of erasure magnetic field in the running direction of the erasure magnetic field draws a gentle slope as shown in Fig. (h) in this way. The magnetic field applied to a tape is decreased gradually less than the saturated magnetic field, the residual magnetization is converged to zero thereby improving the erasure efficiency. |
