APPARATUS FOR INDUCTION-HEATING METALLIC STRIP

PURPOSE:To heat uniformly a metallic strip at a low cost by placing jet nozzles for transferring heat to the strip with jets of gas at prescribed positions of an induction heating apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Each pair of upper and lower known induction heaters 1 are installed opposite to each other with a path for conveying a metallic strip S in- between. A pair of upper and lower jet nozzles 2 for heating are placed between the heaters 1 in the lateral direction of the strip S. Jet nozzles 3 for cooling are placed on both sides of the heaters 1 so that they confront the edges of the strip S. The strip S is heated in the lateral direction with jets from the nozzles 2, and the edges of the strip S are cooled with jets from the nozzles 3.
