For hygienic reasons and to avoid waste, a dispenser is provided for dispensing a rolled product, such as paper lavatory seat covers and hand towels, in sheet form, a roll (2) being rotatably mounted in a housing (1) and a dispenser slot (5) being provided through which the product is guided outwards, the rotary movement of the roll (2) being locked via a releasable barrier (10) after dispensing of a single sheet and subsequently being released again.
