Heavy oil treatment for Diesel engine or boiler burners

The system is for treating heavy oil to fuel a Diesel engine by cracking the oil in a reaction chamber (6) to produce a vapour-liq. mixture. This chamber contains an electrical heater (7) with temp. control (8) and the cracked product is cooled (12) and supplied to the engine by a high-pressure pump (15). In a heat exchanger (4), the oil (3) is preheated before passing (5) to the reactor (6) by the mixture (9) leaving it. It then passes (10) to a liq.-vapour separator (11) containing the cooler (12). The cooled air passes directly (18) to the pump (15) via a filter (14) and is mixed (13) with the condensed lighter fraction. A proportion is recirculated (16,19) by a pump (17) to the oil inlet (3) of the heat exchanger.
