The invention relates to tyres for vehicle wheels. The tyre which is the subject of the invention is of the type comprising a tread strip with all-terrain mouldings made in the shape of small bars which are regularly dislocated and alternated, of the type called ''herringbone'', oriented at an angle which is variable relative to the equatorial plane of the tyre, and presenting a central zone A of maximum density of the mouldings, to which there are adjacent, on either side, intermediate zones B and extreme zones C, and is characterised in that, since the zones A, B and C are of the same width, the coefficients of density KB, KC of the mouldings of the said intermediate and extreme zones of the tread strip and the coefficient KA of density of the mouldings of the said central zone are respectively within the limits 0.85 to 1.0 and 0.75 to 0.85. The invention applies especially to tyres for the drive wheels of agricultural tractors for all uses, in particular those used for field work and transport. <IMAGE>
