PURPOSE:To perform waste water treatment suitably by using an anionic flocculant consisting of a copolymer of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid or a salt thereof, N-methylol acrylamide, and acrylamide. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer consisting of 0.5-10mol% 2-acrylamido-2- methylpropane sulfonic acid or a salt thereof, 40-99.5mol% N-methylol acrylamide, and 0-59.5mol% acrylamide is prepd. by solution polymn. in water or by W/O type suspension polymn.; the product is used as an anionic flocculant. The flocculant is suited for treatment of waste water contg. fine mineral particles produced in the treatment of phosphate ore.
